Hey, guys, welcome back to the Fearless Designer podcast. Thank you so much for joining me today. As always, I'm your host, Morgan. I am the Fearless Designer and I am so grateful that you're joining me today. Now, I don't want this to sound like branding 101 on this episode today, but listen, hear me out. I work with a lot of established women in business, and even at a six or seven figure level, I still get this question that pops up all the time. And it's not because people don't have a brand. It's because it's often not doing what they hoped it would.

So today I wanted to to explore the question, how does branding actually help a business? So we're going to break it down properly today. I'm not just talking about having a cute logo or a color palette, hoping that the color palette actually makes you feel happy, because absolutely it should. But we're talking about the real business outcomes of good branding. And I'm talking about things like easier sales, stronger client trust, greater confidence in how you show up, and just more consistency across your entire business. So if your brand's at a stage where it needs a bit of a glow up, or even if everything's working for you, today's episode will help help you see where branding fits into your entire business ecosystem. So I'm super pumped to explore that more with you today. Hello and welcome to the Fearless Designer podcast. I'm your host, Morgan MacDonald, aka the fearless designer, and I'm here to help you embrace your fears, level up your visual brand, and take your business to fearless new heights.

For two decades, I've worked with business owners just like you, designing brands that are bold, consistent and authentic. I've lived a profesh corporate life as a graphic designer, and I've also spent the last 13 years running my own brand and graphic design business. So whether you're running a six or seven figure business, craving a brand refresh, or just ready to add a little more wow to your visuals, I got you. Each week, we'll dive into fearless brand strategies, design tips that you actually can use, live brand audits, and interviews with fellow business owners who have dared to do things differently. So if you're ready to stop playing small or take control of your brand and lead with confidence, you're in the right place. Let's go. So first of all, branding builds trust. And most importantly, trust builds sales.

So trust is a huge one when it comes to branding. People buy from brands they trust. We know that. And that trust, it's not just Built on having a really great product or service. It's built on consistent and confident branding. So think of your brand as a visual promise. When someone sees your Instagram post, or they click on your website, or they hear you speak on a podcast, do all of these touch points feel cohesive? That builds trust. It makes you look polished and professional.

And even if you're in the middle of a chaotic launch or a behind the scenes rework, it all makes sense. On the flip side, if every post looks different or your logo feels like it's diy, or your tone changes, or one caption sounds really relaxed and you're having a conversation and the next is really stuffy and corporate, it just creates that feeling of disconnect. And that feeling is enough to make someone hesitate to book in, even if your offer is freaking amazing. So the result of strong branding means that more people will say yes because they feel safe, inspired and clear on what you offer. Particularly if your ideal clients are following you on social media, they aren't wanting to be sold by you all of the time. They are wanting to form a relationship. They are wanting to follow you, understand you, get your vibe. Even if it's your business, they still want to understand all of those things.

So they are want to learn and trust you, and then they will buy. So branding also gives you clarity. And that clarity gives you so much confidence. One of the, I'd have to say one of the sneakiest benefits of branding is what it actually does for you, the business owner. Because when your brand is really clear and aligned, you stop second guessing everything. You're no longer wondering what to post, how to present yourself, what colors to use, what colors to use. On your next sales page, you have a framework, and that framework is a visual identity and a verb identity of how to build your brand from. You know your tone, you know your message, you know how your brand should feel.

And that level of clarity gives you the confidence to actually show up and to do it really consistently. I've had clients tell me that once we'd locked in, their branding showing up became much easier. Suddenly they're recording more podcasts, booking more speaking gigs, writing better content because their brand finally felt like them. And that created so much momentum for them. So that result of strong branding means in the context of clarity, that you'll show up more with less hesitation. And that consistency compounds into visibility and growth. Another thing is that branding sets the right first impression. Without you saying a single word.

You have three seconds to make an impression online. Sometimes it's even Less than that. And your brand is working before you even open your mouth. Let's say someone lands on your Instagram or your website, what do they see? Do they immediately get a sense of your vibe, your personality, or your professionalism? Do your fonts and colors and imagery create a feeling that matches matches your offer? Is it turning them off? Is it all hodgepodge and all over the place and they're really confused in what they should be intaking at, what time. A strong brand communicates all of that instantly? And if your brand looks premium, thoughtful and clear, people assume your work and working with you will too. But if things feel messy, unconsidered, vague, or all over the place, that doubt can creep in really fast, even if your actual service is incredible. So again, the result of strong branding means that you attract better fit leads who already get you, and you filter out all the ones who aren't aligned. I'm not sure.

I'm sure it's a common thing, but when I first started my business, I was clearly accepting any work that came my way. And that meant that I had little time to put forward the right branding solutions to draw in the right customers and the ones that I were wanting to work with. So if you take that time to set up those foundations with your branding, a really strong set of foundations, it'll mean that you're aligning yourself with the right customer. Earlier on, branding also streamlines your systems and your team. Now, this one most people don't think about until they start hiring or outsourcing, and you mightn't be at that point yet, so that is so fine. But without a strong brand, it becomes really hard to get others to represent you well. Your va, your designer, your content writer, your web designer, they're all guessing at your voice and your style and your visuals. But with a solid brand identity or a style guide, you've created those systems for them.

Now your team knows what your brand should look like, what it should sound like, and what it should feel like. And this is an ongoing thing. You should be meeting with your team regularly to keep checking in and understanding how the branding's evolving. That means you're not redoing any work, which that can be a pain in the bum. It means that you're not micromanaging every detail that someone takes the time to create a graphic for you. And it also means that you can scale faster because your brand is no longer sitting in your own head. It's documented, it's organized, and it's ready to support your growth. So that result, again, of having a really strong brand means that it becomes repeatable and it becomes scalable.

So you can spend much more time being the visionary and less time tweaking Canva files. Because this is something that I find is super common in business, women in particular, that they're spending hours in Canva instead of doing the things they actually love. Now, branding supports premium pricing. I feel like I should say that again. But let's just talk about the money side of things for a sec. If your brand looks and feels high quality, people will expect a high quality experience that they are willing to pay for. Now, I'm not saying that it needs to look luxe, vogue, like you're on a yacht. I'm not saying it needs to look like that.

But if your brand feels dated, inconsistent, or even the slightest bit diy, your dream clients might hesitate and overlook. People don't hear your prices, they feel them. Branding creates the perception of value. And it helps people understand that you're not just offering a service, you're offering an experience, one that's intentional, refined, and definitely worth investing in. So the result of having super strong branding in the context of your pricing is that you stop undercharging and you start attracting clients who respect your work and they bloody well pay for it, which is the most important part of running and having a business. So another thing that branding does for you and your business is it connects you to your purpose and your people. It is one of the kind of deeper, more important elements to building a brand for me, because a strong brand connects you to your why. It helps you keep and stay anchored in your values, your mission and your message.

And when you're connected to that, you start attracting people who believe in that too. That's when business starts to feel exciting again. And you're not just selling a thing, you're building something that means something to you. And that connection, well, that's. That's the core of a fearless brand. It's not about being perfect. It's not about chasing trends. It's about showing up as yourself and letting your brand reflect that boldly, clearly and consistently.

Because I don't know about you guys, but that's why I'm in business. I'm in business to do something that feels really good for me, but also feels really good for my clients. So the result of building a strong brand is that you build a really loyal community. And they're not just customers. They can become friends, they can become ongoing clients, they can become peers. It is such a valuable and rewarding part of building a brand. So let's wrap this up. How does branding help a business? Well, it helps you get seen, it helps you get remembered, it helps you charge more, sell easier, delegate better, and definitely feel more confident.

It helps you with your audience because it helps them understand who you are before you even say a word. And most of all, it helps you show up in a way that feels good. Not forced and overthought, but so deeply reigned in to you. If your brand isn't doing that right now, that's completely okay. Brands evolve just like we do, and you're allowed to refine it and upgrade it or rebuild it completely. And if you're ready to do that and ready to really start investing your time and effort into your brand and the power that that brings to your business, it might be the perfect time to get in touch with a designer that can help you with the strategy and the heart and the visuals of it. Or it might be time just to check in and see how you feel in the moment. Are you feeling like your branding really ties into your why and your mission and your purpose? Is it evoking the vibe that you want it to put across? Are you liking the colors? Are you liking the fonts? It doesn't have to be a complete overhaul, but taking those little moments, whether it's every quarter, to check in with your branding and actually evaluate it, getting into your stats, having a look, seeing how the posts responded, seeing if people are talking about your branding.

Because I found from past client experience that once people start to uplevel their branding, people take notice and they'll actually send you a DM and say your branding is looking amazing. So once you have a chance to start assessing your branding, regular intervals, whether it's quarterly or monthly or whatever, whatever suits your business. That way you can really start honing it and tweaking and creating something really memorable that you're really super proud of. So I wanted to thank you so much again for listening today.
